Backing Up Your CheckUp Data

If you would like personalized support to learn how to backup your health information in CheckUp, please contact us at 913.438.3201, Monday - Friday from 9am to 5pm Central Time.

Backing up your information does not protect you from hard drive failure or viruses.

It is important to create a backup of your CheckUp data in case your computer's hard drive is ever damaged. CheckUp's Backup Tool takes a snapshot of your health information and creates a .zip file that can easily be stored on a CD, Zip disk, external hard drive or USB Drive/Jump Drive.

By default, a backup file will be created every time you exit CheckUp. A backup can always be manually initiated by clicking the "Create Data Backup" link found on the Home Page.

Each time you close CheckUp, an automated procedure will backup your health information.

By default, the backup files are stored in the C:\Program Files\CheckUpSoftware\CheckUp\backups directory. If you did not install CheckUp to the default location, the path to the backups directory will be different. You can change the location by changing the Backup File Location setting on the Settings page.

The backup file can be saved in one of four ways:

  • If your computer has a CD burner (CD-R or CD-RW drive), use the CD writing software on your computer to burn a CD of your information.
  • If you have a Zip drive, insert a Zip disk and copy the CheckUp backup file onto your Zip disk.
  • If you use an external or secondary hard drive, copy the CheckUp backup file onto the hard drive.
  • If you use a USB Drive/Jump Drive, copy the CheckUp backup file onto your USB Drive/Jump Drive.

Label your backup media and store it in a safe place.

If you choose not to backup your CheckUp data on one of the above media, you may copy the backup file to another location on your computer or change the Backup File Location setting to create the backup files in a location outside of CheckUp. While this will not protect your information if you experience a hard drive failure, this will protect your information if your CheckUp installation gets corrupted or deleted.

If a situation arises where you need to restore you CheckUp data from a backup file, please contact CheckUp Customer Support for assistance.
