CheckUp and Norton Internet Worm Protection
Important information for customers using Norton AntiVirus 2005 and above
Although CheckUp does not require you to have an Internet connection, CheckUp runs in an Internet Explorer
window. Because of this, Norton AntiVirus may stop CheckUp from functioning correctly if Norton's Internet Worm
Protection incorrectly identifies CheckUp as an intrusion attempt, or a worm.
This incorrect detection, also known as a false positive, causes the following error message to appear. To
prevent Norton AntiVirus from reporting a false positive for CheckUp, follow the steps below to add CheckUp as
a Permitted Program.

Steps to Add CheckUp as a Permitted Program
Norton AntiVirus 2005 and above

Open Norton AntiVirus.

Click the Options button at the top and select Norton AntiVirus.

Click Internet Worm Protection.

Click Program Control.

Click Add.

In the "Select a program" pop-up screen that appears, navigate through the folders to the
checkup.exe program found in the following location (this may be different if you installed CheckUp somewhere
other than the default location).
C:\Program
Files\CheckUpSoftware\CheckUp\system\nepal\lib\sun\j2se-jre\win32-x86-1.4.2_15\bin\checkup.exe
Select checkup.exe then click Open.

Select "Permit" from the Program Control Pop-up.

Click OK until you can exit Norton.
